In 2001, John released three discs on CRI/Blueshift: The Claudia Quintet, Quartet Lucy, and No images. Hollenbeck performs frequently with Bob Brookmeyer, Fred Hersch, and Jim McNeely. He earned a B.M. and a M.M from the Eastman School of Music. Search & Restore presents The Kermit Driscoll Quartet & The Dan Weiss Trio
May 14th, 15th & 20th@ 10:00pm
May 20th Search & Restore is proud to present two incredible bands, The Kermit Driscoll Quartet and the Dan Weiss Trio. Drummer Dan Weiss and bassist Kermit Driscoll are in constant demand as band members, due to their immense talent and supreme ability to contribute musically to a group sound. They work so often that it is rare to see them perform as band leaders and composers, so it seems appropriate that they should be leading their own bands together on the same bill. Kermit Driscoll was a mainstay in Bill Frisell's band for 10 years and his current quartet inlcudes with Kris Davis, Brooke Sofferman, and Terrence McManus. Dan Weiss has just released his newest album, a suite called Timshel, on Sunnyside Records, and his trio will be performing the suite in full at this show.
LISTEN: www.myspace.com/danweissdanweisstrio www.myspace.com/kermitdriscoll
ABOUT DAN WEISS Backed by his long-time trio mates, pianist Jacob Sacks and drummer Thomas Morgan, Weiss weaves elements of different compositional styles and knowledge of Indian rhythms into the language of jazz on his twelve-track CD to create something new and eternal, foreign and familiar. âEach piece in this record draws upon a specific inspiration which has captured my curiosity and imagination the last couple of years,â Weiss writes in the liner notes. âThe intention behind this record was to take the essence of each of these inspirations and to create a musical narrative. It is intended to be listened to as one piece, uninterrupted. While each piece is its own song, they each serve a larger purpose which is the suite.â ABOUT KERMIT DRISCOLL Born March 4th, 1956 in Kearney, Nebraska, USA, Kermit began playing piano at age 5, bass at 13. A student of Jaco Pastorius in 1974, he later attended the Berklee College of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1978. He has recorded and performed with: The American Composers Orchestra, Patti Austin, Chet Baker, Bang-on-a-Can All Stars, Don Byron, John Cale, Dave Douglas, Robert Dick, Buddy Emmons, Michael Feinstein, Bill Frisell (a band member from 1987 to 1996), George Garzone, Eliot Goldenthal, Michael Gordon, Gerry Hemingway, John Hollenbeck, Wayne Horvitz, David Johansen, Russ Johnson, Ben E. Greg Alexander
NYC CD release Show
Saturday, January 16th @ 10 PM

Traveling singer-songwriter Greg Alexander performs Future Folk: a combination of bluesy folk & contemporary lyrics. Vintage music supports modern stories from a very lively performer.
Born in Springfield , Massachusetts , Greg found his way to writing music during a year abroad as an exchange student in Paris. “My host parents were performers, actors and singers. They gave me a guitar to communicate until I could speak French – that took about six months. By then I was hooked on making music.” Upon returning home Greg continued writing by borrowing his own mother’s Guild F-20. “Mom was going through her own Richie Havens phase at the time; she never got that guitar back, by the way.” A graduate of New York City ’s National Shakespeare Conservatory, he has toured as both an actor & musician with the National Shakespeare Company and Chrysalis Theatre Company of Northampton , Massachusetts ; among others. “When theater is in cahoots with music – it’s the best, it truly is.”

LAURA SOLON: RABBIT-FACED STORY SOUP
Jan 11th 8:00 pm
Laura Solon exploded into public consciousness at the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe with her sensational debut show. She played to sellout crowds and received glowing reviews for her writing and performance, and became only the second woman ever to win the Perrier Award. She is now undeniably one of the rising stars of the comedy world.
A subtle, brilliant writer and extremely versatile actress, Laura is able to turn her hand to a diverse range of hilarious characters and voices. Her comedy is dark and distinctive, crammed with acute observations and killer one-liners. Laura has recently written and starred in her own TV show Laura, Ben and Him (ITV2) and two series of her radio show Talking and Not Talking, as well as appearing in Ruddy Hell! It’s Harry and Paul Series 1 and 2 (BBC One), and Al Murray’s Multiple Personality Disorder (ITV1). “Laura Solon is a serious talent. Solon’s series of comic monologues proves her to be an amazingly versatile performer and a hugely promising writer. This is an astonishingly assured debut.” Dominic Maxwell, The Times “With some of the best lines in a Fringe show Solon has earnt her recognition by the Perrier panel.” Julian Hall, The Independent “Solon executes each character with laser-guided precision and a lightness of touch. There are inevitable flashes of Victoria Wood and Catherine Tate, but there is gobsmacking originality, too.” Bruce Dessau, The Evening Standard

Love and Love and Licenses: From gay marriage to border passes, two plays about finding love, and then, controlling it.
Written and Performed by Amir Levi
Directed by Shauna Horn
Choreography by Megan Sipe
Original Music by Jesse Soursourian
Te Busco, a solo show written and performed by Amir Levi, is the coming of age story about a young man who discovers that he is destined to be the next matriarch of his family. The play journeys through his mother and grandmother’s stories of how they met their romantic partners, as he discovers how his own story relates to theirs. It’s about love, fate, destiny and most importantly, motherhood. It’s the classic coming-of-age story with a new twist. The show, approximately 60 minutes, revolves around three characters: the protagonist (Amir) and his Mexican mother and grandmother, whose words are taken verbatim to keep the authenticity of the stories.
At a Loss
Written by Charlotte Cohn and Jason Odell Williams
Directed by DeLisa White
After traveling with her grandmother across America for two weeks, an Israeli woman finds herself stuck in the small town of Goodview, Virginia with a direction-less grocery store manager and the incompetent DHL deliveryman responsible for losing her grandmother’s dead body. To add to her helplessness: they can’t understand a word she says. As the scenes go back and forth in time we learn this trip, the random meeting of the grocery store manager, and the grandmother’s death might not be just coincidences, but perhaps all part of God’s “master plan.”
